Cookie Policy

What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data (a text file) that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit it. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better browsing experience, and supply information to the owners of the site.

Cookies can be “persistent” or “session” cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period of time or until you delete them manually. Session cookies are temporary and are deleted from your device when you close your web browser.

Cookie Types

Essential (Necessary) Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, network management, and account access. You cannot opt out of these cookies as the website cannot function properly without them.

Performance (Analytics) Cookies

Performance cookies collect information about how visitors use our website, such as which pages are visited most often and whether users receive error messages. These cookies do not collect information that identifies individual visitors. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. We use this data solely to improve how our website works.

Functionality Cookies

Functionality cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your username, language, or region) and provide enhanced, more personalised features. These cookies may also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts, and other customisable parts of web pages.

Targeting / Advertising Cookies

These cookies are used to deliver advertisements that are relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as to help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the website operator’s permission. They remember that you have visited a website, and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers.

Third-Party Services

We use a number of third-party services on our website that may set their own cookies on your device. These third parties include Mailchimp (email marketing and on-site signup forms), Meta / Facebook (advertising effectiveness measurement via the Meta Pixel), Intercom (in-app live chat and customer support), and YouTube (for embedded video content). We do not control the cookies set by these third parties. Please refer to the relevant third-party website for more information about their cookies.

Browser Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser’s local storage to save your progress through our health questionnaires. This is so that if you accidentally close the tab, hit the browser back button, or get distracted partway through, you can return to the site and pick up where you left off without having to re-answer everything.

The information saved this way may include the answers you have given so far, the question you were on, and (once you have submitted the assessment) the resulting assessment reference. This data stays on your device only — it is not transmitted to our servers as part of the storage mechanism — and is automatically discarded after 7 days. We do not place advertising or tracking information in local storage.

If you are using a shared device, we strongly recommend clearing your browser data when you finish. Local storage can be cleared in the same place as cookies: see the “User Control” section below for browser-specific instructions, or simply use your browser’s “Clear site data for heracles.health” option.

User Control

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our website.
