Wegovy Injection Instructions
Before You Start
- Each pen contains 4 weekly doses. Inject on the same day each week.
- Allow the pen to reach room temperature for 30 minutes before injecting.
- Inspect the solution — it should be clear and colourless. Do not use if cloudy or discoloured.
- Rotate your injection site with each dose to avoid irritation.
- Do not inject into areas that are bruised, tender, red, or hard.
Instructions
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Remove the pen cap and attach a new needle by pushing it straight onto the pen tip and twisting until secure.
Remove both needle caps. Prime the pen by dialling to the flow-check symbol and pressing the plunger until the dose counter returns to 0 and a drop appears at the needle tip.
Choose your injection site: the front of your thigh, your lower abdomen (at least 5 cm from the navel), or the back of your upper arm (with assistance).
Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and allow it to air-dry completely.
Dial the dose selector to your prescribed dose as indicated by your clinician.
Pinch the skin at the injection site and insert the needle at a 90-degree angle in one smooth motion.
Press the plunger button slowly and steadily until the dose counter returns to 0.
Keep the needle in the skin and count slowly to 6 to ensure the full dose has been delivered.
Withdraw the needle straight out and release the skin fold. If you see a small drop of blood, apply gentle pressure with a cotton ball or tissue. Do not rub the site.
Carefully replace the outer needle cap, unscrew the used needle, and dispose of it immediately in a sharps container.
Replace the pen cap and store the pen in the refrigerator between 2 °C and 8 °C. Record the date and injection site in your Heracles dashboard so you can rotate sites with each dose.
