Before You Start

  • Perform the test before 10 am after fasting for at least 8 hours (water is fine).
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours prior to testing.
  • Avoid alcohol the night before your test.
  • Post your sample between Monday and Thursday to ensure it reaches the lab promptly.

Instructions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. This improves blood flow and reduces the risk of contamination.

  2. Remove all contents from the kit and lay them on a clean, flat surface. If you have hair on your upper arm, shave a small area to ensure a good seal.

  3. Twist off the white cap from the Tasso+ device and insert the blood collection tube into the device until it clicks into place.

  4. Activate the heat pack by flexing the metal disc inside. Place it on your upper arm for at least 2 minutes to warm the skin and increase blood flow.

  5. Remove the heat pack, then clean the warmed area with the alcohol pad. Allow the skin to air-dry completely.

  6. Remove the plastic cover from the adhesive side of the Tasso+ device.

  7. Peel off the adhesive backing and firmly apply the device to the outer upper arm, pressing down around the edges to ensure a secure seal.

  8. Set a 5-minute timer. The collection process takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.

  9. Press the red activation button firmly until you hear a click. You may feel a brief, mild sensation as the micro-needles engage.

  10. Monitor the collection tube through the viewing window. Blood should begin to fill the tube within a minute or two.

  11. Once the tube is filled or the timer has elapsed, gently peel the device off your arm and apply the adhesive bandage to the collection site.

  12. Remove the blood collection tube from the Tasso+ device by pulling it straight out.

  13. Snap the provided cap securely onto the open end of the collection tube to seal it.

  14. Gently invert the sealed tube five times to mix the blood with the preservative inside. Do not shake the tube.

  15. Complete the sample label with your full name, date of birth, and the date and time of collection. Attach it to the tube, ensuring the barcode is visible.

  16. Place the labelled tube inside the biohazard bag and seal it securely.

  17. Place the sealed biohazard bag into the prepaid return envelope, seal it, and drop it at your nearest Royal Mail priority postbox or post office.
